What happened to Russell Neal’s wife?
Russell Neal was detained in July 2014 when his wife Catherine Martinez was discovered dead in her Houston, Texas, residence.
He voluntarily entered the police station and admitted that he had a quarrel with his wife and that she had to go to the hospital.
A fitness model and trainer, Martinez died from stab wounds and severe force trauma.
Her sister, Glenda Lewis, reportedly described the moment investigators found the victim’s body in a statement, saying, “You couldn’t tell it was her. I hoped they had the wrong person because it didn’t look like her. I mean, we all know she was beautiful but it didn’t look like her at all.”
Her mother, Mary Figueroa, added that they “couldn’t recognize her and that the only thing recognizable about her was; her teeth, her mouth, you know the way she would smile. That’s what I recognized about her.”
Her family brought up the bruises and scratches they found all over her body. They also said she attempted to conceal everything with cosmetics.
The couple’s relationship was having problems before the murder. Catherine Martinez claimed that Russell Neal mistreated her and didn’t give her the life he had promised.
She had to take on the role of the family’s primary provider.
Martinez countered that Neal was a good father since he always promised to improve. But things took a terrible turn once she saw her mother on June 28, 2014, a few days before she was discovered dead at her apartment.
Two days after killing her, Neal reportedly went to the police. At the time, their two sons were locked in different rooms in the same home.
Where is Russell Neal now?
Following his arrest, Russell Neal was given a first-degree murder warrant. Even so, he was granted bail, which was taken away approximately a month later.
He adopted the name Jesus Christ when he was incarcerated. According to the prosecution, he allegedly began “acting nuts” and was deemed incompetent to stand trial.
Despite assertions from officials that Neal knew what he was doing when he attacked his wife in 2014, Neal has been incarcerated at Rusk State Hospital in Texas ever since.
