Nashawn Breedlove, 8 Mile Actor Dies At Aged 46
Rapper and actor Nashawn Breedlove, 46, has passed away. He co-starred with Eminem in the 2002 film 8 Mile. A family member told TMZ that Breedlove passed away peacefully at his New Jersey residence on Sunday. Unknown is the cause of mortality.
His mother Patricia wrote on Facebook, “Nashawn was a lyricist, performer, songwriter, and actor. Nobody could dispute his aptitude. The death of Nashawn has left a vacancy in my life that I cannot adequately describe with words. I cannot express the anguish and suffering I feel. He was not only my son; he was a remarkable man whose fortitude and character inspired all who crossed his path.
Nashawn Breedlove was best known for his portrayal as Lotto, one of Eminem’s character B-Rabbit’s rap battle opponents in 8 Mile. In the film, Lotta rapped, “I feel bad that I have to kill that guy from Leave It to Beaver,” referring to Eminem, who ultimately won the battle.
Before 8 Mile, Breedlove was known as OX and was featured on the soundtrack for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s 2001 film The Wash.
Breedlove’s fans and loved ones paid tribute to him on social media, recalling his talent and charisma.
Rapper Mickey Factz shared a clip of Breedlove rhyming in 8 Mile on Instagram, writing “RIP to one of the few emcees to defeat Eminem… Lottery at 8 Mile. Whose peers affectionately nicknamed him OX. Your tenacity and aggressiveness will be sorely missed.”
“The first MC to be cheated out of a rap battle victory!” In the remarks section, rapper Daylyt added, “Rip lotto.”
“I met Ox when we were teenagers,” commented a user. “Nashawn Breedlove was a member of the band The Now. Illest group of emcees I’ve ever encountered in my entire existence. They destroyed my band in a showcase competition, but they were gracious and calm about it. Ox was notable. Superb fellow.”

Breedlove’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of her son, Latisha Harper, also commented on Factz’s post. She wrote that “he was so humble” and “didn’t even know he had true fans.”
“Nashawn Breedlove was so talented,” continued Harper. “Not only is Wa an incredible MC, but he also sings better than Luther. He bestowed upon me the gift of my son, @youngzaak, and I vow that he is Nashawn multiplied by ten. I will remain his greatest fan forever. If only you knew his talent! Please pray for our needed fortitude. Thank you again @mickey.factz.”
Zaak, their 22-year-old son, posted a photo of his father from the film 8 Mile on Instagram.
“RIP to my Father,” he captioned the photo. “The Legendary Status of Hip Hop.”
