To begin with, Manziel was educated at Tivy High School in Kerrville, where he was the best football player among the students of his state, winning the title of Player of the Year from the Association of High School Coaches and representatives of the press, and also became the winner of the Heisman Trophy and the Cotton Bowl. In 2014, Manziel announced that he was planning to join the NFL Draft, ending his college football career after only two years.
Concerning his professional career, Johnny Manziel was chosen 22nd in the 1st round by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 NFL Draft. He scored his first touchdown on 30th November 2014 in the game against the Buffalo Bills, however, he was injured in the next game against the Carolina Panthers, and was unable to play for the rest of the season. In the 2015 season, he fought with Josh McCown for the position of starting quarterback which McCown won, but he was injured in the first game of the season, and Manziel then led the Browns to their first win. However, the recovering McCown then pushed him back to the Reserve Bank. At the end of 2015, the head coach Mike Pettine announced that Manziel would run as the starting quarterback until the end of the season, however, he was demoted to third quarterback, after a video was released showing Manziel with a champagne bottle at a Texas party, and the following games were played with Josh McCown and Austin Davis. After a renewed injury to McCown which meant his season ended, Manziel was re-appointed as starting quarterback, and played two games against the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs, both of which were lost, but Manziel received partly positive reviews. In the latter game, Manziel suffered a concussion, so that he could not compete in the last season game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Again, Manziel made negative headlines as did not come for his medical exam. After the season he was released by the Browns, and currently he is a free agent, with the statistical average of 1,675 passing yards, 259 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown and the passer rating of 74.4.
Manziel had always been a star baseballer too, and in the 2014 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft, he was selected in the 28th round (overall 837th pick) by the San Diego Padres, but declined to take-up the offer.
Finally, in the personal life of Johnny Manziel, he is still single, but has been investigated for a couple of incidents of alleged domestic violence against girlfriend Colleen Crowley, plus has been in several minor scrapes with the law for fighting, apparently brought on by drug and alcohol abuse.
