Joel and Benji Madden launch new single We Are Done and hint about Benjis rumoured romance with C

JOEL and Benji Madden are getting match fit ahead of their musical comeback as the brothers launch their bold new single We Are Done.

The Voice Kids coaches were momentarily coy when asked about the recent rumours of a blossoming romance between Benji and actor Cameron Diaz after they were snapped leaving a gym together.

“I love the gym, I do a lot of curls,” Benji quipped.

Joel then chimed in: “Curls get girls.”

The Maddens and Diaz have been friends in Hollywood for more than a decade but Benji and the actor seem to have been spending more time together in recent months when he hasn’t been in the studio.

The Good Charlotte brothers head back to Australia next week for filming on the Voice Kids and to promote their new music identity The Madden Brothers.

Both singers confirmed the talent unearthed on the spin-off series “gives the adult singers a run for their money”.

“This show is going to be a hit. All they want to do is sing and they are really good singers,” Benji said.

Joel added: “In my life, I will never sing as good as some of these kids sing.”

It took three years for the twins to be ready to share their new flower-power-inspired foot-stomper which recalls everyone from The Beach Boys to Beck.

They managed to hold off constant demands to release new music in recent years to capitalise on Joel’s television-led popularity.

“We had to say no so much; it just wasn’t ready. Thank god they let us say no,” Joel said.

Much of the delay in finishing the Greetings From California album, which will be released in October, was due to his television commitments.

Benji joked at one stage he considered launching a show called Celebrity Pets With Hidden Talents while waiting for his brother to be available.

“Getting Joel into the studio when I needed him slowed things down but it turned out to be a blessing,” he said.

“We could sit and think about what we were doing and if we could make it better, to spend more time listening and working out what we wanted to do with each song.”

The brothers denied We Are Done is an epitaph for Good Charlotte, the punk pop band they formed when they were only 15 and went on to sell 10 million albums worldwide.

But their focus is entirely on the Madden Brothers, which they insist is not a “side project” and it seems unlikely they would resurrect the band any time soon.

“We have so much affection for that band and not just for the music but what it gave us in our lives; it’s in our DNA so we can never say it’s done,” Joel said.
